CyberPunk 2170

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.

and so it begins.

A quick message from <rob> alerted the group to the imminent arrival of Neon Jungle PD. The team quickly sorted the apartment, removing anything untoward from sight. In a moment of panic, <brucey> opted to duck out the fire escape and leg it for the van.

Two detectives presented themselves, Suarez and Neidermeyer. Quickly allaying any fears of wrongdoing, they were looking for help finding Eva Black. A young fan of <band>, she’d been last traced to a gig 48 hours ago and not seen again. She had travelled from Crystal Gardens on public transport, but no account debit or travel pass activity indicated her return.

<heath> used a local device network to connect financial transaction data, security camera footage, and gig camera footage to help track her movements, with help from the detectives. Eva’s last transaction was found to be 9pm, and camera footage had her with two persons of interest after that time. The first was Jimmy John, later determined to be a friend of hers from Crystal Gardens (who returned safely), and also a suspicious looking guy in a studded leather jacket. Further event footage revealed she and he argued, with him being dragged off by two security legends, Billy Bob and Jimbo.

After a rather unorthodox debrief with the pair, it seems a second person if interest was at the gig; similar looking, same clothes, only difference being ‘this fella weren’t headpunched’. With the new lead, the focus again turned to recordings from the evening. A quickly written facial recognition algorithm yielded results, the suspect was caught harassing customers in the background of a BeerCam™ security shot. A cross-check with Suarez revealed his identity as Mikael Kolat, low level member of the Red Dragons, with several outstanding warrants.

Having intimate knowledge of the Red Dragons, Consuela offered up a great deal of intel. The Red Dragons are heavily involved in drugs, extortion, prostitution; recent rumours have them involved in the grim trade of body parting. With a little convincing, Suarez and Neidermeyer retroactively approved a bounty hunter permit for the crew.

Gaining access to Mikael’s police file, his 6 last known residences were checked. One was demolished under the Urban Renewal Program, another two were firebombed by the Purple Lotus Gang.

<luke> called Johnny B for some info on the Red Dragons. At the cost of a dinner date, Johnny mentioned two addresses where the Red Dragons were known to operate out of, as well as a warehouse in a great part of Dockside known as Shitsville.

<james> called Fiona Huhana for a favour, and was able to borrow a recon drone. After nearly making a rookie mistake and munting the hookup to his CyberGoggles, the team suited up and rolled out to Dockside.

Cleaning up Shitsville

The group made tracks to the van, where <madam> was waiting. She never did explain why she bolted from the PD…

After a quick recap, since Madam Foxy asked, the van fired up toward Shitsville. A slummy part of Dockside, it was a far cry from Neon Jungle. Many small gangs vie for control against a struggling police force, and the citizenry suffer for it.

Despite this Dockside still runs a productive port operation, mainly used by the corporations from richer zones. Madam Foxy passed on that the goods they run through here are run through here for a reason; not many people outside of Shitsville give a toss about Shitsville, so goods of a questionable nature pass through here easily. Nobody messes with these corporate sites, nor their convoys, with the gangs learning that the hard way.

Traveling deeper into Dockside, Luke noticed a parting in the traffic and pulled to the side, moments later a corp convoy rumbled past, shooting a man and his dog who failed to move out of the way.

Driving through the core part of Shitsville was slow going, but with a little aggressive driving you managed to avoid the crowds and persistent windscreen washers. Some deft drone flying identified a warehouse near the target which was vacant, and a seemingly logical point to begin the recon. A better point was located, however it seemed to be a corporate warehouse with some sort of perimeter defense system, and therefore it was quickly ruled out.

Parking the van in the abandoned warehouse, Madam Foxy noticed a few shipping pallets were arranged in a shelter configuration, and spied an unlikely ally hiding within: Hobo Bob. Initially defensive but overcome by the sheer amount of feminine charm thrown his direction, <hobo> proved to be a wealth of information on the Red Dragons and neighbourhood in general.

Leaving the van in Hobo Bob’s care, the group began to sneak toward the Red Dragon stronghold. A lone guard paced by a loading bay in the distance, and despite some opportunistic begging in <luke> and Consuela’s direction, they were able to approach unnoticed. Giving Consuela a lesson in how professionals do it, <luke> stealth killed the guard with unsettling ease as <mugatu> snuck up behind them.

The final wave of <madam> and <ragnar> arrived at the door, and <luke> gave the secret knock, passed onto them by Hobo Bob. Grabbing the guard, <luke> spun around and Consuela belted him with her gun while Madam Foxy drew her Katana. Fearing getting stabbed, <luke> pushed the goon towards Foxy, who stumbled as Foxy thrust forward, blade upturned. With a harrowing gargle the ganger was stabbed in the throat, his falling motion aiding Foxy’s blade to split his head open like an overripe melon.

With the element of surprise truly gone, the group took up firing positions at the door of the warehouse, with Ragnar ducking in for cover behind a broken forklift. Three gangers shot back from second floor gantries, with Foxy again ending one in grisly fashion. A single untrained shot with a submachine gun blew a hole the size of a golf ball in one guy’s face, his barely connected skull flapping about as he fell. The other two gangers were dropped in less spectacular style. Sensing one was still alive, Foxy ran up to him, shot him in the leg to elicit a scream, and then shot him in the mouth to silence him forever.

A second wave of goons came running out from the offices as the team pushed further into the warehouse. One in particular seemed tougher than the rest, sporting a red mohawk and camo pants in addition to the usual gang leathers. Bellowing madly and firing a large machine gun, he locked onto Consuela and marched ever forward.

One ganger got the drop on Mugatu and shot him in the leg, resulting in a severe wounding. He paid for it, as returned fire claimed his life. A third ganger took a minor hit and collapsed to the gantry, only to be hunted down by Foxy.

The team’s fire turned back to the heavy ganger, who’s survivability indicated some level of cybernetic enhancement. His fire spray soon turned to the concealed area with the kidnapped girls, and sounds of bullets tearing flesh indicated at least 2 were hit. It took concentrated fire to bring him down, and several rounds were pumped into him after he fell for good measure.

GTFO!

In the aftermath of the warehouse raid, it became apparent that not all the wet, squelchy, bullet-through-flesh sounds had been from inside the blanket shrouded cage. Consuela was in a crumpled, bloody heap; Nika panicked and dragged her away, repeating ‘not again, not again…’ A thick smear of blood left a clear indicator she’d gone back to the van.

Adeyemi was left in a sprawled mess on the floor with a serious leg wound. With Foxy and Ragnar’s aid, he hobbled to the cage, to find several bullet shredded bodies on gurneys, along with some basic medical supplies that survived the hail of gunfire. Directing his friends in what to do, his bleeding was stopped and the wound barely stabilised. A quick look-over the victims revealed the girl they’d been looking for was not there.

A quick recon of the upstairs found an open rec area and a sealed office. With Adeyemi’s leg wound too severe to allow a climb, instructions were passed back and forth about what to do with the discovered media recording suite. After working out it was not broadcasting or streaming elsewhere, Ragnar donkey-konged the server down to Adeyemi, who plucked out the ssd drives. A phone record showed one of the goons had made a call before joining the fight, ominously the caller ID just read ‘Boss’. This poor unfortunate turned out to be Mikael Kolat, so proof of his demise and identity were taken to claim the bounty.

One of the downstairs rooms was empty, however the other was a properly decked out surgical bay. Adeyemi attempted to bypass the maglock, to no avail. With time short the team made an exit through the bombed out section of the warehouse, just as headlights of a van lit up the loading bay. Making it to a rubbled warehouse nearby, they were reacquainted with the hoboes who’d been given Ragnar’s drugs. Trying to stay quiet, one of the gangers spotted the glow and made a line for the rubble.

Ragnar offered the hobos his remaining stash to make a distraction, one of whom stood up and was promptly his with a hail of bullets. His mate ran toward the ganger, veering to the side, unknowingly taking him right in front of the Red Dragon van. The team used the distraction to sneak from the rubble to Hobo Bob’s warehouse, with Ragnar channelling ancient vaudevillian traditions in doing so. Frank Spencer would have been proud. The sound of gunfire drew attention to the warehouse, and woman with a large red Mohawk had mown down the remaining hobo.

On getting in through the back of bob’s place, it quickly became apparent the van was gone. Hobo Bob explained that Consuela was bleeding out so Nika drove him off for medical treatment. Given the blood smear leading the bad guys right to his door, Bob was gearing up to go to ground. Seeing Adeyemi’s injury, he offered the team the use of his car.

From under a tarp, Bob produced a car clearly descended from a Volkswagen beetle. Despite its lack of windows, Mad Max-esque look and rust everywhere, Madam Foxy found it to be mechanically sound as it fired up. Adeyemi tucked into the back seat, taking the entire back to accommodate his injury, leaving Ragnar to take shotgun. Bob waved the guys goodbye as he bolted toward the river, and the team fired the car into overdrive. A wheel spin so shot issued forth, it sounded like Madam Foxy had run over a mouse.

A speeding turn out of the warehouse allowed a spray of bullets at the Red Dragons, none of which caused injury, but a few rounds had taken their toll on the car. One ganger managed to turn his mate into raspberry custard, however. The van loaded up and was in pursuit. Hobo bob’s beetle was no match for their van in speed, but was a little more manoeuvrable, so Foxy took several turns and back alleys to avoid the pursuing gang. After losing them for a few minutes, Ragnar spied a man in typical red dragon garb, talking on a vidphone to the red mohawked woman. He leaned out and flipped a double bird at the phone, and the team sped off.

A second Red dragon member spotted the car, and in an attempt to perform vehicular manslaughter, Foxy managed to clip the building. Ragnar’s head struck the building and he was dazed for a time, leaving it up to Adeyemi to dispatch the ganger.

With the game of cat and mouse well underway, the team decided to shadow the van for a time, until an opportunity to make a shot at the highway onramp became available. Turning some distance behind the van, they found themselves swarmed by 3 gangers on motorcycles. Armed with pistols, they managed to pepper the car with several rounds.
In an attempt to brake and cause a collision with a pursuer, Foxy fishtailed the beetle into a wall, again rendering Ragnar unconscious. Adeyemi shot the pursuer point blank in the face, while another had his gun arm blown off, his pistoled arm falling onto unconscious Ragnar’s lap.

A sharp turn got the car up on two wheels; luckily Adeyemi was able to shift his weight enough to tip it back down. Ragnar awoke and tried to shoot the remaining biker, accidentally triggering the gun in his lap and nearly blowing his own leg apart. Getting fed up, Foxy Deagled the remaining biker in the leg, through the car door, and sent him crashing.

The onramp was in sight now, and the team sped toward freedom. A rough roadblock had formed; 2 bikers and a van. A barrage of bullets followed, one biker sliding back on his bike and creating an opening for the beetle. Gunfire was traded but wasn’t particularly effective. The biker and the van gave chase, with the bike closing rapidly. He and Adeyemi drew a bead on each other, and in a fateful showdown, Adeyemi fired a dismembering shot into his leg, causing the biker to slide off his seat and presumably die.

The van closed soon after, with traded gunfire doing minimal damage. With Hobo Bob’s car having more holes than a wheel of Swiss cheese, Madam Foxy decided it was time for a showdown. An expert handbrake turn saw the beetle face down the van, and everyone who could go full auto, went full auto.

The van survived the hail of bullets intact, only to have the driver hit a pothole as he fired his Uzi. Somehow shooting himself in the leg, he recoiled his arm, sending the Uzi flying back into the cabin. The rapid bright flashes were a clear sign the Uzi had gone into death blossom mode, and the driver slumped over the wheel; the van began to fishtail and eventually rolled.

With the pursuit over, the team drove what was left of Hobo Bob’s Beetle towards more civilised parts, to seek medical treatment and find out where Nika went with Consuela…
